Scope:
Terralab is tasked with defining the character of the development and programming all amenity features and landscapes. In addition to its landscape amenities, the project includes the design of a lake feature, community branding, wayfinding, and a recreation area.
Impact:
The neighborhood is a large-scale infill community development in the city of Pasadena, Texas. K. Hovnanian Homes and Terralab are working to create an affordable, yet attractive family friendly neighborhood. The project will phase construction from 2019-2021.
Designs focus on the use of grading and instensive landscape rehabilitation as the main character element. An artistic entry feature involving a ribbon of corten steel provides the gateway into the neighborhood. The project will contain pockets of reforested area working in conjunction with existing tree canopies and tallgrass areas. The central park and recreation area will feature an adventure playground, open play areas all set into the foreground of a large lake feature.
